Morning Thanks

Garrison Keillor once said we'd all be better off if we all started the day by giving thanks for just one thing. I'll try.

Saturday Morning Catch--in the neighborhood

Pity Sioux Center. The party for their long-awaited 125th birthday celebration was thoughtlessly crashed by early summer storms whose very presence blew everything else off the stage last night, a truly awesome sky. Pictures are everywhere. How does anybody compete with this? (photo by Cindy Cleveringa)

The big show last night was the big sky.

But this morning's dawn arrived gloriously, even though it was without excessive pageantry, just a few long thin battleship clouds on the eastern horizon.

When the sun decided to make an appearance, it did so in a blaze from which you really had to hide.

Still, on a morning like this one, grace abounds in the dawn's holy radiance.

A bright morning sun like this one turns ordinary, into extra-. Even the sheep seem luminescent.

Even the dirt's made proud.
