Morning Thanks

Garrison Keillor once said we'd all be better off if we all started the day by giving thanks for just one thing. I'll try.

Morning Thanks--to be home

This is what Wisconsin looked like this weekend--"peak color," as folks say.  I swear, from the top of the old Parnell fire tower, the state itself was one grand bouquet.  Have a look for yourself.

What's more, this is the lakeshore we left--the morning we did. I'm not making this up.

And here we are, the sky unbroken blue, the temps so wondrously gorgeous one nearly forgot about all that wretched summer heat behind us and the winter that is to come.

Don't know we could have found more beauty, more texture, more story--

But still, it's terribly good to be home.

Thank you for reminding us former Badgers of the beauty and mystery of our childhood home. Those beautiful trees are still soaking up our industrial CO2.

Thanks for the pics. Forgot what a merman looked like. Little Hogan looked nice also.

We used to skinny-dip and in the big pond... and occasionally surface dive to show off our juvenile moons.

We lived the "Summer of 42".

Interesting that you chose Parnell Tower to view the scenery.

On a clear day you can see Lake Michigan from up there which is well over 10 miles away.

Ironic, my dad was born in Parnell, we used to the tower as kids.

Absolutely beautiful pictures of Wisconsin, Jim. The colours are tremendous. I'm jealous. Right now, I'm sitting in an English class as my students write quotation analyses on Macbeth's "Prince of Cumberland" speech. I'd trade places with you in a second. DS
